“Impact is the first novel in the Pan Nationals series by Mark D. Owen. A blast at the International Space Station has resulted in space debris destroying satellites in the Earth’s orbit, devastating the telecommunication systems around the world, and bombarding the Earth’s surface. In the midst of this chaos, Dr. Kohlrabi and other researchers are killed on the moon, and Tamarind Chase believes it is all his fault. He dedicates his life to cleaning up the space debris and making sure nothing like this ever happens again. However, nothing is as it seems. Just when Tamarind feels like things are settling down, an unknown danger is seen coming toward Earth, and no one knows what it is. It cannot be space debris; Tamarind made sure of that. So, what is it? Why is it hurtling to Earth?

“Impact is an entertaining, action-packed story with enough tension and drama that I loved. I enjoyed the fact that Mark D. Owen gave his characters names that I can pronounce. If I say their name without butchering it, I can connect with them and feel their progress. The author gives realistic characteristics to his characters and allows them to share their humble (and vulnerable) sides with readers. Tamarind is eclectic and a little out of his mind from grief. However, as the story progresses, he grows and allows himself to feel other emotions than guilt or sadness. The overall flow of the story is excellent. The descriptions are brilliant. The imagery is vivid and makes it very easy to visualize what is happening. You can picture how the characters look, what they sound like, and how they react. It is a great read, and I cannot wait for the next novel in the series.”
