The Wellness Journal For Teens By Dr. Kayode Is Making A Significant Impact On Teen Mental Health

After years of being stuck in a typical 9 to 5 job, Dr. Kayode felt she needed a change. Today she’s helping California teens discover their best self-version using out-of-the-box thinking, enthusiasm, and a dash of hope.

Eastvale, California – It’s never easy being a teenager, and the last couple of years have made it even more difficult. Recent studies show that 1 in 6 youths, aged between 6 and 17, experience a mental health disorder annually. Over the last couple of years, major depression in teens increased by 52%.

As an expert with the Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) for Social Work in California, Dr. Nashira Kayode was a first-hand witness to the impact of society’s demands on teens. “Sometimes when people are functioning well, from outside appearance, they’re considered okay, and mental health care is saved for those that need it more. I wanted to change that. I want mental health care to be accessible to everyone, regardless of age, gender, or race.”

Today, this daring entrepreneur and master-level clinician is teaching Californians to embrace a world filled with authenticity, self-love, self-care, self-acceptance, and believing in oneself. As a published author, she’s written several guides, ranging from men’s wellness to a self-care journal for beginners.

Yet, her Wellness Journal for Teens has made the most significant impact. Dr. Kayode created the journal with teens for teens. It helps teens foster dreams, promote healing, and encourage resiliency. “The Wellness Journal for Teens encourages teenagers to develop the vital skills to nurture emotional development and maturity daily.”

As Dr. Kayode looks to give teens a helping hand in an often scary and trying world, she’s already got her eyes on her next goal. “I’m creating a series of self-love affirmation cards, specifically aimed at black and African American girls and women.”

A recent study shows that 63% of black people view mental health disorders as a sign of personal weakness. As a result, many minorities consider mental health disorders shameful, something best left unaddressed.

Dr. Kayode aims to change that. “I aim to provide an outlet and resource for people that need help but may not need the intense help provided by many agencies. I want to help you not just to make it another day but to thrive another day!”
